Before beginning her studies in the US through The Initiative, Shakila worked at Bamiyan Hospital with Aka Khan Health Services and coordinated Thunderbird for Good’s Project Artemis, which built entrepreneurship skills for Afghan women. She also lead Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Women Initiative to provide business training for Afghan women entrepreneurs. Shakila graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration concentrating in Management Information Systems. While at Montclair State, Shakila was on the Dean’s List and received a certificate of recognition for outstanding contribution as a student employee. She also received a certificate of entrepreneurship from Feliciana Center for Entrepreneurship.
